Xiaomi was launched its first
smartwatch on Tuesday, the name as Mi Watch. Mi Watch went official it faced major
criticism and it is due to the Apple Watch inspired design. It looks exactly like the Apple Watch. It comes with a rectangular dial similar to Apple
Watch. Hours after the launch of the Mi Watch Xiaomi took to the Chinese
microblogging site - Weibo - to explain why the company opted for rectangular
dial instead of circular dial.
It comes with a 1.78-inch AMOLED screen that
offers 326 PPI. The smartwatch comes with several smart as well as fitness
features. Mi Watch allows the users to
read messages, emails easily, and also track steps walked and kms run. So, why
did Xiaomi go for a rectangular dial for the Mi Watch and not a circular dial?
Xiaomi gives three reasons for it. First: Better Space Utilization. Second:
Better for reading. Third: Better Navigation. Xiaomi believes that a
rectangular screen offers better reading experience to the users. This means
the company believes that a watch with a circular dial doesn't show texts
clearly and often makes it difficult for the users to read.
The rectangular
dial with a bigger or wider space lets users read emails or WhatsApp messages
clearly. The company also believes that a rectangular display smartwatch is
better and user-friendly at navigation. Xiaomi says that with a rectangular
dial the screen of the Mi Watch offers great navigation experience to the
users. The company also explains that the Mi Watch lets users navigate easily
from side to side -- sideways, upwards, or downwards. Xiaomi first ever smartwatch - Mi
Watch - comes in two variants in China.
The standard model is simply called the
Mi Watch while the top-end model is called Xiaomi Watch Privilege Edition. The
Privilege edition comes with a four-curved sapphire glass, a high-gloss
stainless steel body, a stainless steel chain strap and a ceramic back cover. As for the pricing, the basic
model of the Mi Watch comes with a price tag of 1299 yuan that roughly
translates to Rs 13,000. The top-end version of the Mi Watch comes with a price
tag of 1999 Yuan that approximately translates to Rs 20,000.
